When does your baby first kiss you?

Well, it really depends on how shy the baby is, isn’t it? Typically, a baby will be aware enough what a kiss is at 6 months after birth. 9 months old, the baby will have the capacity to kiss you – meaning that he/she is physically able to do so by controlling the neck and month.

Most parents will only be able to coax the baby to kiss on the cheek only when the baby is 1 month old. It is natural, as while the baby has the capacity physically to perform that act, the baby needs to get past the shyness of doing so. And that may only happen 3 months after the physical capacity.

So do be patient and let the baby warm up to you more. Some tell-tale signs that the baby is “warming” up include the baby learning to shake or nod the head in response to your “you want?” query. Another tell-tale sign would be the baby smiling at you and learning the head against your shoulders.

Finally, do note that you should not force the baby against their will, else he/ she will be adverse against touching and kissing you in future.
